Obituary of Dawn Marie Peck

Dawn Marie Peck, 34, passed away at home on October 24, 2017. She was born in Utica on March 21, 1983, a daughter of Randall and Susan Verminski Peck. Dawn graduated from Clinton Central School and LeMoyne College. She spent a year in Chile with the Rotary Exchange program. Dawn worked at Tony's Pizza in Clinton since she was a teen, always greeting people with a welcoming smile – she considered Scott and Laurie Miller and all of her co-workers a second family. She had worked in the Baltimore City Schools before returning home to work at Utica College, where she truly loved her work as a mentor with the Young Scholars Program. Most recently she worked for ACR Health as an advocate. She was involved in many activities including, dancing, fitness and performing with Players Theatre. Dawn was a trusted friend and confidant, helping people through difficult times and encouraging them to never give up. She is survived by her parents Randall Peck and Sue Verminski Peck; her sisters Kristen and David Szarek, Lisa Barone and Heather Peck; her grandmothers, Carolyn Peck and Barbara Verminski; her nephew Tyler and niece Emma; her aunt Terry Drake and her daughter Amanda whom Dawn was especially close to and aunts Sharon Gaumer and Donna Hillage; uncles Steve and Dan Verminski; many cousins, close friends and her furbabies Rocky and Toby. She was predeceased by her grandfathers, George Peck and William Verminski and an uncle Tom Drake. All are invited to a Celebration of Life for Dawn at Noon on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at New Hartford Methodist Church. There will be no public calling hours.
