Bill was a dear friend to my husband and me and we will miss him dearly. My husband and I have been active in the community since moving to Dumfries in 1962, We have held several positions in town government and I served on the Town Council for four years and as interim mayor for six months. I also served on the Board of Zoning Appeals with Bill prior to him running for town council. We were delighted when he won a seat on the council because Bill was a steady force on the council and was a person who could take all the rhetoric, filter through it and calmly help other council members come to a good conclusion. He was soft spoken, but at the same time, a solid rock. Bill will never be replaced and we are blessed to have called him a friend.
