This World lost such a man on October 23rd, 2015. Our Lives will never be the same now that he is gone. James Raymond Meade, 71, of Rome, New York, passed away at Faxton St. Luke's Hospital on October 23rd, 2015.
Jim was born on December 9, 1943 in Rome, NY the son of the late Raymond and Alida Kirscher Meade. He attended both Oriskany and Westmoreland Central Schools. He enlisted in the United States Navy from 1962-1965 as an Air Transport Serviceman. He served at Midway Island and received an Honorable Discharge from Treasure Island, CA under the rank of E-3.
Jim was united in marriage to Shary Ann Lux on August 26th, 1966 in Utica,NY. Providing for his family was very important to him and in doing so he had several employers over the years including Bergamo East, Oneida Limited, Waterbury Felt, Grace Church,Oriskany Central School as a bus driver and lastly as a maintenance man for St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Utica, NY. Our dad loved to fish, go on field trips with the RCF staff at Rome Hospital, go out to dinner at Cracker Barrel and Red Lobster. And most of all he LOVED smoking his cigars. He received many Senior Olympic Awards for bowling as well as many Special Recognition Awards for his volunteer work while a resident at Rome Memorial Hospital.
Jim is survived by his daughters and their spouses, Jamie and Jim Pope of Rome,NY, Barbara and Derek Coronato of Rome, NY and Jackie David and Robert Sanchez of Rome, NY; Five grandchildren, Amanda M. Williams of New Hartford,NY, Adam J. Branham of Rome,NY, Michael A. David of Rome,NY, Olivia C. Sanchez of Rome,NY and Gabriel T. Sanchez of Rome,NY; he also leaves behind 2 great grandchildren, Nevaeh A. Williams and Marley L. Masner, both of New Hartford, NY. He is preceded in death by his wife, Shary Lux Meade, his parents, Raymond and Alida Meade and also a twin brother at birth.
As his daughters, we wish to extend our heartfelt gratitude to his many physicians, the staff at Faxton-St.Luke's Emergency Room, ICOU, 2West and also the staff of 3East at Rome Memorial Hospital. We would like to give our sincerest thanks to Christina Dulan, Tina Burns, Wendy Foster and also Joe the bus driver from RMH his cigar smoking buddy, Carl of Oriskany,NY.
Calling hours will be held from 4-7 pm on Friday, October 30, 2015 at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College St., Clinton, NY. There will be a Spring interment with full Military Honors to be announced at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to The Residential Care Facility of Rome Memorial Hospital and The Humane Society.
