He was a great neighbor. He would always smile and strike up positive conversation . My daughter and Bucephalus enjoyed his kindness and laughter during his daily walks. We will miss him.
Although it hurts, we must remember that when Angels come into our lives, they are only lent to us and will need to return home when their job is done. Think of the gifts that Jack was sent to give and
hold them tight, they will stay with you forever. Prayers and love, Michael, Lynne, Alexandria & Bucephalus

Regretfully I have not seen most of my VVS classmates of '78 since graduation. When I received the sad news of Jack's death, two memories of Jack came to me right away. The big swing that hit the long ball and the even bigger smile. Thank you for posting the picture of Jack that you did. It was good to see that smile one more time. You have my heart-felt condolences.

The following is a blessing to a friend and mentor, who shared in my joy and sorrow, whenever I needed swomeone to talk to he was always there: May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at you back. May the sun shine warm upon your face. May the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, May the Lord hold you in the palm of His hand. My friend, you will be missed, but never forgotten.

To Jack's family, I'm sorry for your loss. Words cannot take away the pain you feel now, but these may help: God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around you and whispered "come to me." With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the BEST.

It brings great sadness to hear of "JL's" passing. We graduated together and always took time to catch-up at the reunions and whenever our paths crossed throughout the years. Our class held our 30th reunion this past August and the buzz of missing him there was amongst several of his classmates with very few knowing his situation.
In a short period of time we have lost many from our world--but knowing that he is at peace now and probably at a "party on the patio" with Pedro, Gibby and Andy Davis, Mary Roache as well as the rest of the Vernon Downs greats---also our classmates, and most recently Mark Dixon.
Heartfelt sympathies to his family and friends,
Sheila
