Clinton, Formerly of Rochester
Marie Louise Skelly, 92, of Clinton and formerly of Rochester, died Thursday, December 24, 2009 at her residence.
She was born in Rochester, on October 31, 1917, the daughter of the late Nicholas J. and Helen Kierst O'Neil. Marie graduated from a Catholic School in Rochester. She married Hugh L. Skelly in 1941, Rochester. Hugh passed away in August of 2001. Marie was a manager of Holt, Rhinehart, & Winston in Elk Grove Village, IL. She was a member of the St. James Church in Arlington Heights, IL as well as St. Mary's Church in Clinton. Marie was an avid artist, a poet, and a humanitarian. She was especially fond of her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children and their spouses; Martha and Stephen Remis, Kathleen Skelly, Hugh and Sara Skelly, Jr., Kevin and Wendy Skelly, Suzanne and Frederick McCurdy, Patricia Skelly, and Terence and Katie Skelly, 19 grandchildren; Zachary, Timothy, and Elizabeth Remis, Laurie Rose, Christen, Lupine, and Ian Skelly, Cailen, Brian, and Alden McCurdy, Megan Davis Rochelo, Jone and Nicole Davis, Brenna, Maggie, and Mathew Skelly, Karla Kenedy, Allie and Rebecca Bombach, 6 great grandchildren; Jessa Yusso, Teryn McCurdy, Eleanor, Bishop, and Ayven Remis, and Aldan Elsenhour, a brother and his spouse; Jack and Norma O'Neil, relatives and numerous friends all over the country.
Marie is predeceased by her husband, Hugh; three sisters, Helen Kelly, Rosemary Haak, and Dorothy O'Neil; and 2 brothers-in-law, Art Kelly and Chet Haak.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 1:00PM at St. Mary's Church, Clinton. Relatives and friends may call Tuesday from 12:00 Noon until the time of the service at the Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College St., Clinton.
