Obituary of Joseph V. Marcaitis

Joseph V. Marcaitis, 87, formerly of South St, Westmoreland, died Tuesday, April 1, 2008 surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 24, 1921 in Utica, son of Matthew and Anna Stanislau Marcaitis. He married Della Dzwonkas on October 11, 1942. She died April 12, 1998. Joe attended The Church of the Annunciation, Clark Mills and St. Georges Roman Catholic Church in Utica. Joe was a past member of the Westmoreland Fire Dept, Council C-140, the Knights of Lithuania and the Clark Mills American Legion Post 26. Joe retired from Griffiss Air Force Base after almost 40 years of service. He is survived by his five children and their spouses, Albina and Charles Luttrell of N. Syracuse, Elizabeth and Richard Corrigan of Conesus, James Marcaitis of Rochester, John and Bethany Marcaitis of Fairport and Noreen and Wayne Clarke of Sharpsburg, GA; four grandchildren, Charles Luttrell Jr, Erika Marcaitis, Aleah and Randy Marcaitis; one great-granddaughter Jorah Luttrell; brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter and Nancy Diamond, Jennie Larner, Antoinette and Norman Beauchemin, Anthony and Judy Dzwonkas, Bernie and Kay Dzwonkas, Pete and Carolyn Dzwonkas, Bud and Bernice Logan and Agnes and Bill Cochis; many nieces and nephews, his Goddaughter Tammy Huyck and many dear friends. Funeral services will be held 9:15am Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Owens-Pavlot Funeral Service, Inc., Clinton and 10am at Church of the Annunciation where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will be in St. Georges Cemetery. Friends are invited to call Friday from 4-7pm. Special thanks to his extended family of Highlands of Brighton past and present. A Memorial Service at the Highlands at Brighton will be announced.
