Obituary of Simon Acee
Simon Acee “Sam”, 97, of Westmoreland, passed away at home on July 15, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family.
He was born in Clark Mills on June 21, 1927, a son of Marone and Mary (Koury) Acee. Sam worked for the family business of Marone Acee and Sons, becoming a well-respected cattle dealer and produce farmer. Sam served his country in the United States Army from 1945-1947. Upon return from his military service, he married the love of his life, Margaret Ferris, on February 16, 1947, at St. Louis Gonzaga Church. This year, the couple celebrated 77 years of love and devotion. Sam had a great love of all things outdoors – hunting, fishing, farming, gardening and enjoyed playing cards. Above all it was the buying and selling of cattle, in particular Holsteins, that mattered most.
He is survived by his loving wife Peg; his three daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Aaron Foote of Westmoreland, Mary Ann Acee of Westmoreland, and Judith and Alan Grossman of Hull, MA; his son and daughter-in-law, Marone and Darcy Acee of Bouckville; his beloved grandchildren, Caryn Foote, William and Deborah Foote, Lisa Maley-Ferraro, Larry Maley, Elizabeth and John Colavecchio, Mikaela Greenberg and Michael Baer, Sarah and Sean Bates, Simon Acee and Erin Williams, Jason Acee and Sara Collver, Jared and Kristen Acee, and Hayden Nolan and Dane Moore; 19 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and many special friends, including Joe Acee and Larry Sanger, and Roger Moore, MD. He was predeceased by his three brothers, John, James and Simon Acee; and his four sisters, Anna Lewis, Helen Joseph, Adro Brehm and Amelia Ferguson.
All are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Church of the Annunciation, Clark Mills. Arrangements by Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Clinton. He will be buried at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Clinton.
Special thanks to Dr. Moore and Dr. Robert Burke for their guidance and compassion in helping us keep Dad at home, as well as our caregivers who also made that possible.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Sam’s memory to Feed Our Vets.
