Dear Alan, Jason, Tyler and family,
It’s taken me awhile to come to grips with Tammie being gone. I was numb for several days after Alan told me and couldn’t believe it. I wasn’t able to write this tribute right away.
Tammie and I met in 1977 when we both worked at Rite Aid Dist. Center in Rome NY. We became fast friends, just like so many who meet Tammie. She was friendly, always smiling, helpful, laughing and fun to be with. This last week brought up so many memories about being with her and the things we did.
We lived in different apartment complexes on Black River Blvd., across from Rome Hospital. We went to exercise class up the street at the shopping center. I don’t know why we wore those awful tights and leotards! Everyone did, they were terrible to get in and out of. I remember we painted her bedroom in a very light yellow color, but sponged painted the whole thing, it turned out great. She introduced me to peanut butter & chocolate ice cream; it’s my favorite to this day. She was about the first person in the country to get a microwave oven, at least it seemed that way. It was the size of a full oven on the counter top! She tried many different recipes in there. She liked Wild Turkey & Tiger’s Eye jewelry. I sent her an essential oil diffuser bracelet in Tiger’s eye right after Christmas. We went to the first Wendy’s in Utica after they opened and loved it. We suggested they open one in Rome, and not much longer after that, they did. We tried a new place to eat while on lunch break. It was our first time to have a wrap type sandwich in pita bread.
Tammie was a good listener too; she listened many times to my sorrows. Alan, you were a great match for Tammie. I remember your wedding and then babysitting the cat when you went on your honeymoon, even though I was allergic.
I moved back home to PA in late 1982. After marrying, my husband and I were able to visit Alan and Tammie in Oct of 1990. We visited the farm, was chased by the goats, chickens and roosters. I remember her mom’s player piano. That was the last time we were together. We lost track of each other many years later, but caught up again a few years ago on FB. I’m so glad we did.
Alan told me she knew Jesus. That’s the most important thing. Receiving Christ by faith means absent from the body, present with the Lord for all eternity. So my dear friend, I will see you again. I will keep Alan, the boys and family in my prayers. I pray for comfort from the Lord; and help from many friends & family during this time and in the future. With much love always, Carol & Russ Laufer

I will always remember Tammy’s pride in her beautiful family. Having had our boys around the same ages, attending church and seeing her smile while she held Jason and Tyler and then seeing them grow and seeing her pride at school events watching them was a beautiful thing! I’ll also never forget her encouragement for my son while he tried new things, like soccer! You will be missed, Tammy. You did such a great job with your kids, and your loving legacy will live on in them!

Q: What will you never forget about Tammie?
A: Tammie had a heart as big as they come. Years ago I was single raising my family on a very tight budget. One day Tammie and I went to a craft show. I saw a utensil crock that I loved. When I saw the price , I put it back. A few days later, Tammie arrived at my door with a bag. It was that awesome crock! I still have it and use it. What a kind spirit she had! Love you my friend, Bonnie

Are used to babysit Tammy when she was just a baby. She has the most beautiful curly hair. From right I remember she was very good-natured and always had that beautiful smile on her face. I she has done the hard part and has gone home to be with dad and all that have loved her. God bless her husband and children and may they find comfort in knowing she suffers no more say hello to my mom and dad and sister Maggie.

Tammie was always thinking of others. I met Tammie when we both worked at the Rite Aid distribution center many years ago. When I had been there 11 years, she told me about the civil service test coming out. I was afraid to go , but she convinced me to go with her. It was the best thing that could have happened to me. I got a job with the state because of her!

Words never seem to be enough during a time when a loved one passes. However the memories of our two families during our high school years will always be good ones. Praying that God will give His peace and comfort to the family.

I still have a thank you card from Tammy for being a pall bearer at her mother's service. St Mary's in Sullivan Beach and at the cemetery. The card is in Bible still today . She was a dedicated daughter to her mother. I also remember swimming in the pool down the road from the beach.
