Obituary of Joseph T. Nolan
Joseph Thomas Nolan, 64, passed away unexpectedly on November 24, 2022.
He was born October 20, 1958, in Syracuse, a son of the late Robert W. and Patricia (Brower) Nolan. He graduated from Westmoreland Central School in 1977 where he was honored as Athlete of the Year and said that “trying harder is a better way of life”. He went on to receive his degree in civil engineering from Delhi in 1979. He was united in marriage to the love of his life Mary Danyew in 1985. Joe was a civil engineer with Rome Housing Authority for over 20 years and retired as project manager with Campus Construction.Joe’s favorite holiday was St. Patrick’s day. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, golfing, motorcycling, camping, and Adirondack life. He cherished time with his grandchildren and family always putting his family first. Some of his favorite times were spent going on travel adventures with his wife Mary, hanging out at the “Grumpy Old Men” hunting camp, going fishing with the Black Lake Crew, hunting trips with family and friends, Man’s weekends with his brothers and nephews, camping at Southwick and happy hours with his Eagle Bay neighbors. He loved getting all the kids with a good “Scotchadeetch”.
Joe will be dearly missed by his wife Mary; his children, Jennifer (David) Rader, and James (Cindy Alexander) Mason and three grandchildren, Kyle (Michelle Diehl) Rader, Gia Mason, and Ty Rader; Godchildren, Kayla Nesci and Thomas Nolan; siblings, Kathy Matthews, Debbie Smith, Michael (Sandy) Nolan, Marybeth (Apostolos) Doukas, Jimmy (Sheila) Nolan, Barbara Nolan, Patty (Ed) Novak, Peggy Nolan, and John Nolan; and his in-laws, Barb Danyew-Dowsland, Yvonne (Clint) Miller, Michael Danyew, Rosemary Danyew, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Bob and Pat Nolan; sibling Billy Nolan and his in-laws, Michael Smith, Alicia Nolan, Suzanne Klein, Charles Danyew, Donald Danyew, and Alan Dowsland.
All are invited to call Friday, December 2, 2022 from 10am – Noon at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, 35 College St., Clinton and attend a Celebration of Joe’s Life at Noon.
