The passing of my grandfather has left a piece of my heart broken in my life, a piece that no amount of time can ever truly fill. As I sit down to write this, my heart is heavy with sadness, but also filled with a gradually sense of gratitude for having had the privilege of knowing and loving such an awesome man. My grandfather was more than just a family member, he was a man full of kindness, and unconditional love. From the days of my childhood, he was always ready with a warm smile, a comforting hug, and words of encouragement. His stories, with life lessons and historical stories about him growing up, were a treasure of knowledge and inspiration. He had a unique way of making even the most unique moments feel special, and his laughter brought joy to everyone around him. One of the most cherished memories I have of my grandfather is the time we spent together at his house either watching tv or coloring like usual. He taught me patience and perseverance in his time of life. As I reflect on his life, I am reminded of the countless ways he touched the lives of those around him. He was the strength for our family, always putting others before himself. His generosity knew no bounds, and his kindness was a testament to the greatness of his heart. Whether it was offering a helping hand going over to NAPA or volunteering his time to support my own father as helping him in the garage while he was a kid for engineering at BOCES. My grandfather's actions spoke volumes about the kind of person he was.
The love and respect he earned from everyone who knew him are a testament to the remarkable life he led on to his death. He was deeply loved, not just by his family, but by all who had the privilege of getting to know him. His legacy is one of love, compassion, and unwavering integrity. Though he may no longer be with us in body, his spirit lives on in the memories we hold greatly and the values he instilled in us. I will cherish my grandfather forever. His memory is a guiding light that will continue to endorse my path, even in the darkest of times. The lessons he taught me, the love he gave me, and the moments we shared will remain etched in my heart for life. Yet, amidst the grief, there is a profound sense of gratitude for having known such an incredible soul. I will carry his memory with me always, cherishing the love and wisdom he imparted, and striving to live a life that would make him proud. My grandfather may be gone, but his spirit will forever be a part of me, guiding me, inspiring me, and reminding me of the boundless love that transcends even the greatest of losses.

To the entire Merrill family..celebrate the life of a man that exemplifies the meaning of the family patriarch. His family was always first and foremost in his thoughts. He loved each and every one of you with all of his heart. I will remember him as a kind soul that would do anything he could to help someone lucky enough to call him their friend. His wisdom guidance and generosity were extended to my family on many occasions. He leaves his family a legacy of honesty generosity and integrity that they should all be forever proud of. Rest in peace Bud
