John F. Thrasher, 74, of Westmoreland, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2017, peacefully at his home. John was born in Utica, NY on November 27, 1942, the son of the late Francis and Edna (Clark) Thrasher. On September 11th 1971 he was united in marriage to Mary Featherbay. He attended Oriskany schools and graduated in 1961. John worked in the schools for many years most recently as a bus driver for Westmoreland School District. He was a proud member of the NRA. He is survived by his wife Mary; son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Shannon Thrasher of Westmoreland; daughter Amy Thrasher and fiance Jimmy Willey Jr. of Westmoreland; grandchildren, Bryce and Evan; a brother Robert and Julie Thrasher of Westmoreland; in-laws, Joanna and Richard Dowsland of Florida, Donna and Leonard Durham of Florida, and Patty Featherbay of Ohio; and a large extended family. He was predeceased by his parents; mother and father-in-law, Arthur and Winnie Featherbay; in-laws, Judy and Larry Yerkie, Jimmy Featherbay, Lee and Wendy Featherbay. Calling hours will be from 3-6 pm on Monday, October 30, 2017 followed by a Celebration of John's Life at 6:00 pm at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College St., Clinton. A private burial will be held at Crown Hill Memorial Park. Please consider donations in John's name to Spring Farm CARES.
