Obituary of Clara W. Burns

Clara W. Burns Clinton Clara W. Burns, 97, formerly of Dawes Ave., passed away Sunday, July 4, 2010 at the Martin Luther Nursing Home. She was born in Kirkland on October 3, 1912, the daughter of Clarence and Laura Sixour Whittaker. In 1930 Clara was married to Arthur R. "Roger" Burns. The couple resided in Clinton. Mr. Burns died August 8, 1970. Clara worked at Oneida Ltd for many years and also at Thermold in Clinton. Clara was the perfect mother. She was also a very special grandmother, who made blueberry and chocolate chip pancakes for "her boys". She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Pfendler of New Hartford; two grandchildren, Joan Batty of Ohio and Doug Pfendler of Kentucky; four great-grandchildren, Simon, Jason and Jared Acee and Jennifer Shultz; seven great-great-granddaughter, Kelsey Acee, Victoria, Alexandra and Charlotte Acee, Izabella Acee, Colin and Cooper Shultz; a sister-in-law, Lucy Burns; several nieces and nephews including a special nephew Allen Whittaker and his wife Mary of Kirkland. She was also predeceased by her granddaughters, Judith Acee and Susan Pfendler. Funeral services will be held at 1pm Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc, 35 College St, Clinton. Friends are invited to call from 11am until the time of the service. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Please consider donations to Lutheran Homes Foundation, 108 Utica Rd., Clinton, NY 13323. The family thanks "the girls", Gail, Sue and Karen who took special care of Clara and to Jill McDonald who supported Barb through the difficult times.
