Obituary of Josephine "Josie" Pintacuda
Josephine “Josie” Pintacuda, 67, was called home on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Hospital.
She was born in Utica on August 23, 1949, the daughter of the late Santo Carl and Frances (Familaro) Pintacuda, and graduated from UFA. Josie retired from Excellus Blue Cross after 31years and then went to work at the admissions office at MVCC for 10 years.
Josie was a devout Christian. Her faith in Christ was at the center of her life and she believed in service to others. She was a part of many Christian ministries, was active in youth education and was a devoted Eucharistic Minister. She was kind-hearted and loved by all who knew her. If you knew Josie, you knew of her passion for butterflies. She enjoyed cooking her famous chicken soup and baking her cranberry bread, which she gave to her family and friends. Josie put great thought into her gift-giving and would pick up special gifts for others throughout the year.
She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Carmelita and Jerry Smith of Clark Mills; her cousins, Maria Sparacino of CA, Carmela and Vito Adragna of CA; and Grace and Michael Cappelli of Binghamton; and her good friends, Michelle, Louise, Bonnie, Terry, Karin, Karen, Carol, Wendy, Laura, Mary Ann, Sheila, Donna, Beth, Diana and Susan. She was predeceased by her parents; her paternal grandmother, Carmela Pintacuda; her paternal aunt, Margherita Sparacino; her cousin Rosa Sparacino; and her close friend Sheila Mellick.
All are invited to call Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 5-7pm at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College St., Clinton. A Celebration of Josie’s Life will be held at 7pm Wednesday evening and all are welcome to attend. Her burial will be at 10am Thursday at Kirkland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Joyce Meyer Ministries (www.JoyceMeyer.org) – a non-profit service organization that was near and dear to Josie. Mailing address: US Headquarters, PO Box 655, Fenton, MO 63026
The family thanks St. Luke’s PCU nurses, Kelly and Shannon, the 6th floor staff, Dr. Sikder and his staff, Dr. Ulahannan and the Physical Therapists and staff at The Pines for the wonderful care given to Josephine.
