Richard E. "Grampa" Maxam, 76, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on March 2, 2017.
He was born October 12, 1940, a son of the late Charles and Anna (Beach) Maxam. He was a lifelong "Bulldog", graduating from Westmoreland Central School. Rich was united in marriage to Nancy Burns on June 10, 1961. They shared a loving union of almost 52 years before Nancy's passing on March 29, 2013. Rich retired from Clinton Central School and then enjoyed being a crossing guard. He looked forward to spending time at camp on Oneida Lake, where he was known as "Grampa". His favorite times, above all else, were times spent with his grandchildren. He loved attending their events, cheering them on and supporting their every activity.
He is survived by his four sons and daughters-in-law, Rich and Bonnie Maxam, Ed and Julie Maxam, Steve and Ginny Maxam and Doug and Patti Maxam, all of Clinton; eleven grandchildren, Cassandra and Brad Aldrich, Edward and fiancé Nicole Ellsworth, Richie, Steve and Molly, Thomas, Roger, Jenny, Andrew, Tess, Roy and Megan Gagnon and Lissa Gagnon; great-granddaughter Eden; sisters Peg Murfitt, Jeanette DeLuca and Gretchen Maxam; sisters-in-law, Jean Maxam and Betty Maxam; many nieces and nephews and his special friends, Mike and Maureen Ladd and their children Mike and Kara.
