Obituary of Susan H. Bishop

Susan H. Bishop, 93, of Clinton, passed away on November 10, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. She was born in Utica on June 28, 1923, a daughter of James and Florence Brown Hyde. On September 6, 1943, she was united in marriage to Donald F. Bishop, Sr. The couple raised their family and shared over 50 years of love and devotion until Don's death on May 10, 1994. She worked at St. Elizabeth Medical Center as a medical transcriptionist for many years. Susan was a member of Stone Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon for many years. She had many wonderful friends and was a member of different groups with them, including the Red Hat Society, the "Lunch Bunch" and "Club". Susan enjoyed spending time with her family and was devoted to the care of her son Larry for over 35 years. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Julie and William Huther of Clinton; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Donald Jr and Joyce Bishop of Prospect, Larry Bishop of Clinton and Peter and Donna Bishop of Honeoye Falls; five grandchildren and their spouses, Donald III and Heather Bishop, Grace and Paul Peterson, Bill Jr. and Christie Huther, Andrew Huther and Catherine Richards, and Simon Bishop; eight great-grandchildren, Ricky, Brandon, Tyler, Jessica, Jordyn, Logan, Dylan and Daniel; many nieces, nephews and special friends. She was predeceased by her husband Don, a sister Frances Hyde and two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Leona Hyde and Benjamin and Elena Hyde. Funeral services will be held at 9:30am Monday, November 14, 2016 at Stone Presbyterian Church, South Park Row, Clinton. Her burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Utica.
