Obituary of Jo Ellen Hadlock

Jo Ellen Hadlock, 78, of Rome, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2016. Jo Ellen was born in Oneonta, the daughter of Ralph and Stella Hadlock, and also lived in Clinton before moving with her family to Rome. Jo Ellen worked for many years as a civilian administrative officer at Griffiss Air Force Base. She was active at the Rome Senior Center and in the Methodist Church, and she volunteered for several community organizations, including Rome Twigs (where she served as Treasurer), GALS (where she served as Treasurer and Membership Chairman), the Jervis Public Library, and the Rome Memorial Hospital Snack Bar. Jo Ellen loved golf (playing and watching), bowling (she was in the Griffiss women's bowling league), cross-country skiing, crafts, card games, and -- especially -- her Rottweilers. Jo Ellen is survived by her close friend Warren Passmore, of Stittville; her niece, Erika Hadlock, of Portland, Oregon; and Erika's husband, Jan Kubic. Jo Ellen's two brothers, Ronald Hadlock and Dennis Hadlock, preceded her in death. Arrangements by Owens-Pavlot & Rogers. In accordance with Jo Ellen's wishes, there will not be a memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jervis Public Library, 613 North Washington St., Rome, NY 13440.
