Ruth A. Henry, 86, of Clark Mills and formerly of Terra Ceia, FL. passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at the Presbyterian Home.
She was born the daughter of the late John and Delia Alexander Esslinger on November 6, 1923 in Clay Center, Kansas. She married the love of her life George F. Henry on November 1, 1943 in Fort Riley, Kansas. Ruth and George owned and operated the Western Auto in Clark Mills for over 25 years. Ruth loved crafts and the outdoors, especially gardening and was a master gardener in Florida.
Ruth is survived by her beloved husband and best friend of 67 years George Henry; "My dearest wife, we have taught each other so much. I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to enjoy life to the fullest with you by my side. Our true love for each other can never be replaced. Until we are together again, I Love You." ;Two Children, as well as her caregivers, and their spouses, Riley and Ronald McFadden of Clinton, and David and Mary Henry of Terra Ceia FL . "Mom, you will be with us always. The love and support you have shown to us and our families will never be forgotten. The memories and the love we have shared with you are endless and will be cherished each and every day. We will always remember "Oh Sh*t" it's not a swear word, it just means things did not go as planned." ; Four granddaughters, Tammy and Dan Dygert, Christy McFadden, Jamie Henry, and Tracy Henry. "Gramma, you have been an inspiration to all of us. The memories we have created together will be cherished for many, many years to come. Even though at times we were miles apart you made it a point to be a part of our lives each and every day. The four of us look forward to the day we can follow in your footsteps and share with our grandchildren as much joy and love you have given to each one of us. Thank you for always finding a way to say yes when mom and dad said No! We love you." ; Six great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Alyssa, Brianna, Jenna, Emma, and Evan. "Great Gramma, the special times we have spent together will be cherished forever. Thank you for teaching us how to bob in the ocean waves, find interesting critters, muck in the kitchen sink, making the best rolls ever, always letting us paint your nails the craziest colors, that dirt will not hurt you, and all of your great stories, Love your sweetie pies" ; a special niece, Lois Finegan and family; a special cousin as well as caregiver, Bonnie LaSalle and family. "Gram, thank you for all of the joy you have brought to me and my family. I was truly blessed to have you in my life." We Love You ; Lifelong friend Betty McCarthy and family. "Oh the good Olde days!!" ; many friends that she has now been reunited with; and her extended family at PRC; Cynthia, Dorie, Maureen, Carrie, and all of the girls on the "B" and "C" wing. It takes a team to give a person the dignity and respect they deserve at a special time in their life. "Boy what a team we have become! Don't worry we're on it! We love you, Ruthie."
The family extends a special thank you to the entire staff at the Presbyterian Residential Community and the Aspen wing. The love and support you have shown to George and Ruth during this difficult time has been amazing. Each and everyone of you have a special place in our hearts.
