Shirley and I attended a one-room schoolhouse together and her grandfather, William Consider Law was our teacher for all 6 grades. Can you imagine! Shirley was 5 years younger than me - we graduated 5 years apart. She was one of those cute little shy girls and I went on to Westmoreland for 7th grade as we all did. We all lost touch then because all the 7th graders from the 17 (I believe) one-room schoolhouses in the school district became one. She in 1950 and I in 1945 graduated and then went our separate ways. Then in 1965 I had the good fortune of being hired as an elementary secretary in the newly built elementary school and our paths crossed again. My lucky day because from thence I was in the presence of these wonderful, kind, intellectual teachers, one of whom was Shirleyand our friendship reunited. The years flew by quickly, as I think back, and when we all retired, I was included in their fold in joining Shirley and some of the other primary teachers for lunch on a regular basis. There was always a bond between Shirley and I because of our start in the Bartlett School back in the 1930's. Then that fateful day happened 6-1/2 years ago - I was very saddened.
She is one we can take a lesson from because whenever I would go visit and ask how are you --her response was -- GREAT! She was loved by all. I lost a dear friend and will miss my visit with her - we always had something to catch up on.
With Deepest Heartfelt Sympathy to you Jean, Steve, your family and all the other family members. Helen Beer

In 1989 Ms. Gaul became my 1st grade teach and I her student. I've not forgotten her. Last Thursday I was walking my daughter to her first day of 1st grade. On the walk to the school she told me she felt a little nervous. I told her about my first day of 1st grade, and how nice my teacher, Ms. Gaul, was and how much fun 1st grade was. My daughter went on to have a great first day, just like I did 27 years ago.
It takes a special person to teach young children, and to leave a lasting impact, and Ms. Gaul was no exception.

For the many fond memories... the organ, the "blue" room, never a dull Halloween stop (especially when Dad was in a pranking mood), and more. For the love, the meals, your commitment to family... we love you!

Shirley has been part of my life since 1960, she has been a cousin, friend, sister, and Aunt to my children. She was so strong and I never heard her complain or say "why me" she set an example for me and others that I only can hope to follow. I loved her and will miss her, till we meet again.
