Obituary of Carl W. Chapman
Please share a memory of Carl to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Carl W. Chapman, 83, of Jamesville, died April 21, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica.
He was born November 14, 1932 in the Town of Pompey, a son of the late Edward and Ida Welch Chapman. Carl grew up in Manlius and graduated with the class of 1951. On March 28, 1959, he married Janette “Peggy” Reals at the Jamesville Community Church. Carl was a lifelong dairy farmer beginning in Oran and Delphi Falls and then moving to Maxwell Road in Clinton. After retirement, he delivered flowers for Alcott’s Florist, accompanied Jack Turner of Morrisville on his long-distance hay delivery routes, and enjoyed doing his family genealogy research. Carl also loved to work the land and loved even more helping his son, Karl, and grandson, Paul, on their farms. He loved talking to friends and making new ones along the way. He especially loved spending time and travelling with all of his family and his loving wife of 57 years.
He is survived by his wife Peggy; his four children, Kurt and Jackie Chapman of Dunnellon, FL, Pamela and Gary Zombek of Deansboro, Karl Chapman and Trish Witchley of Oriskany Falls, and Priscilla and Jim Heigle of Brussels; his six grandchildren, Tonya and James Greer of Rochester, NH, Chad and Becky Chapman of Dunnellon, FL, Paul Zombek and fiancé Katie Wehnau of Schaghticoke, Stephanie and Andrew Knoeller of Greenwich, and Caitlin and Catherine Heigle of Brussels; his five great-grandchildren Wyatt and Jackson Greer and Drew, Brayden and Adalynn Knoeller; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers James and Richard, a sister Joan, and brothers-in-law Russell and Robert Reals.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
