Lillian (Stone) Langdon
Westmoreland
On February 20, 2010, Lillian Langdon, beloved wife of the late Carl Reeder Langdon, passed away in Florida at the age of 95.
Before marrying Carl in 1936, she received her degree as a child's nurse from The House of Good Shepherd in Utica, NY. Lillian was active in the Westmoreland Grange and she was a Past Matron and Grand Officer of the Order of the Eastern Star. Since 1936 she had been a member of St. Marks Church in Clark Mills, where she was in the Womens' Auxiliary and the church choir. After moving to Ft. Pierce, Florida during the winter months, she and Carl were active members of the Order of the Elks Lodge. She had worked at Harrison Gift Shop in Kirkland, Harris Bros. Gifts in Utica and New Hartford, and retired from Oneida County Department of Public Works. Lillian was such a remarkable woman who started painting in her 60's and now her entire family can remember her through her many paintings today.
She was a loving mother and survived by three children, Arletta Kaler, of FL., Charles Langdon, of Wellsley Island and FL., and Nancy Davies, of Baltimore, MD; 12 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild; one sister and brother-in-law, Florence Stone and C. Kenneth Hamlin who reside in Florida with their family.
A memorial service will be held at the Westmoreland Cemetery in Westmoreland on May 22, 2010 at 3:00 pm. The Order of the Eastern Star will also be performing their traditional ceremony. The Langdon's would like to invite all family and friends to join them in a celebration of her life to be held after the service at the Masonic Temple in Westmoreland, with refreshments provided by the Eastern Star.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Order of the Eastern Star, Oriskany-Westmoreland Chapter #471, PO Box 357, Westmoreland, NY, 13490.
