Obituary of Jean Ostinett
Please share a memory of Jean to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Wilma Jean (Foster) Ostinett passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at LutheranCare, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Brush Valley, Pennsylvania on July 5, 1929, Jean was the youngest of nine children born to Margaret Elaine (Rhoades) and Ernest Matthew Foster.
From 1954 – 1977, Jean was married to Raymond Joseph Ostinett. They lived in Alabama, Germany, Greece, and France before settling in central New York.
An accomplished seamstress and cook, Jean also enjoyed painting, music and films. Her home and family were her world. She was kind, patient and tolerant, and exuded a quiet strength. Her slightly wicked sense of humor sustained us all through good times and bad.
She is survived by her daughters Karen Ostinett, Susan (Tim) Sweetland, both of Clinton, Janet (Mark) Goris of Cazenovia, grandchildren Christian Ostinett (Mary Louise) and James Ostinett (Samantha), Whitney, Clay and Sophie Goris, Claire Sweetland (Sierra), step grandchildren Daniel, Ryan, Patrick and Cara Sweetland, and great grandchildren Christian, Tyler and Aidan Ostinett. She was predeceased by her parents, siblings, and daughter, Peggy Lynne Ostinett.
The family would like to thank the staff of LutheranCare, especially the Saul Unit, for their kindness and compassion.
At Jean's request, a private service will take place at the convenience of the family.
Donations in memory of Jean may be made to The Lutheran Homes Foundation, designated to the Saul Unit.
