My deepest sympathy to the family of Miss Paula. We never met, but I enjoyed the loving and funny stories told to me by a dear friend, your daughter Karen. So I will look for you in Heaven to hear some more stories and maybe you can bake something for us as we sip a nice cup of hot tea.

From Paula'a Norwegian family.
When my Grandmother Ragna, the sister of Paula's father Alfred Nelson, got letters from Alfred, there were so many pictures of his wife and their four children. For a hundred years our American and Norwegian family have never forgot each other.
In the summer 2012 my husband Per Kristian and I together with our son Marius visited our Family in Old Forge and met Paula in person.
She was a very special person- lovely, kind, exstreamely interested in her Norwegian family historiy and wrote it to remember, intelligent, smart and with a large sense humour.
The year after she had the possibility to visit Norway and see her fathers home which was more important for her than anyone could imagine.
She stayed in our home for a few days, and we learned to know Paula even better. She was a very special and wonderful woman. I felt we could be together like a mother and a daughter with so much love.
We have got so many lovely letters from Paula. She had her families both in US and Norway in her heart.
She told me that her father has said: " Every day we should do or say something good to another human".
And she did - she was like an angel.
I am so proud of that Paula was my cousin - she was a very special woman with so much love in her heart.
We will keep her in our hearts. And bless her memory.

To the Gray children, please know that I'm so saddened by your Mom's death but I have absolute peace that she is at peace. I'm SO glad that I spoke to her at Waterville's Cuise In a few weeks ago. Bob warned me that she might not remember me, but God bless her, she knew exactly who I was and told me "you're the baby of the family just like my Bobby." lol I told her she was beautiful and I meant it. She helped me as a teen because she understood what it was like for me to grow up having had my Dad die. Then, when we worked one summer together at Harding's as RNs, she wouldn't let me call her Mrs. Gray. She told me that as co-workers and equals, she wanted me to call her Paula. Oh, how much that meant to me. She was an incredibly strong and intelligent woman and when we would run into each other, I felt her love. What a wonderful example and legacy she has left. I will always remember Paula Gray with a heart full of love.

I'm gonna miss this dear Angel. She has always been there for myself and many others. She was an amazing women always willing to listen and would love you to do the same in return. She had many stories she loved to share. They never were boring no matter how many she told you, they were always interesting and she always made you laugh just the way she told them. I will never forget the cool walker I found at Matteson garage sale. It wasn't your typical metal walker this one had class as Paula did. It had a seat and the seat lifted for her purse or other belongings it even had a break incase she got crusing to fast. Lol She loved it! Best part it was free. When Bridget and Lori knew who I was going to buy it for they said no no for Paula....take it. We owe her. She took care of everyone of us kids in this town in one way or another. They wanted to return the love as I did getting it for her. She made cookies for the basketball team last year for our dessert after dinner. That lady just never stopped. Laying next to her in bed Friday afternoon talking to her tears silently flowing down my face she said...." Don't worry, I am going to be here I have Christmas presents I need to order." Yep Paula on her last few breaths always thinking of everyone else. She was one of a kind. Gonna miss my buddy making me laugh at the games. Love you lady Gray.

Dear Gray Family members, I wish I could be there in person to give you all a hug but am now in Florida.
Paula was such an amazing, caring and warm-hearted person who brought so much love to every age. I remember her fondly at Waterville dispensing her love to all. (And I think she probably had a little pull in getting me the Guidance Office secretary job!)
Your mom and dad were very special to many and I know how proud they were of all of you. I send my deepest sympathy to you.
Sincerely,
Judy
