Obituary of Margaret Sally Zweifel
Please share a memory of Margaret Sally to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Margaret Sally Eisenhut Zweifel, 83, of Waterville, passed away October 6, 2015 at home surrounded by her loving family.
"Es ist so schwer, wenn sich der Mutter Augen schliessen, zwei Hände ruhen, die stets so treu geschafft, wenn unsere Tränen still und heimlich fliessen, uns bleibt der Trost, Gott hat es gut gemeint. Bhüeti Gott, Sally, Mom, Gram!"
Sally was born to Conrad and Mina Schneider Eisenhut on November 23, 1931, and was raised in Deansboro, New York. She was a graduate of Waterville Central School. On November 4, 1950, Sally married Fredolyn Zweifel. During their nearly 65 years of marriage, Sally and Fredolyn worked side by side on the family farm. She was well known for her generosity, always positive and kind nature, and her unlimited energy. In addition to operating her vegetable market, she and her husband shared their bounty with many local churches and service organizations. To this day, Sally maintained a large garden, was a prolific canner and she loved to share her wealth of knowledge about those subjects with generations of friends and family. She was well known for her flower beds at the intersection of Hanover and Shanley Roads.
Sally was proud of her Swiss heritage and made many trips to Switzerland with her children and grandchildren to visit her extended family. Music was also a big part of her life. She played several instruments along with Fredolyn including the organ, piano, bass guitar and accordion. Sally loved to polka and she was always up for a game of pitch.
She is survived by her loving husband, Fredolyn, her children, Debbie and David Yablon, Laurie Zweifel, and Richard and Carol Zweifel, and her loving grandchildren, Naomi and Peter Yaciuk, Christian and Zachary Ashley, and Jacob Zweifel. Sally is also survived by her sister-in-laws, Joyce Eisenhut and Rosemary Eisenhut and by many cousins, here and in Switzerland, as well as nieces, nephews and countless dear friends.
Sally was predeceased by her parents and brothers, Alfred C. Eisenhut and Harry Eisenhut.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. David Petrie and his nurse, Debbie Jones, and all the doctors, nurses and staff who cared for her. Also, the family is very thankful for the exceptional home care from Karen Pucky, RN and the staff from Hospice & Palliative Care, and to Kathy Eisenhut, Rose Stoltzfus, Edna Stoltzfus and Suzanne Stoltzfus.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 8, between 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College St., Clinton, NY. A memorial celebration of Sally's life will take place on Friday, October 9, at noon at the Three Steeples United Church in Paris, NY. All are welcome to attend a luncheon reception at the church immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donations in Sally's memory to Three Steeples United Church, Paris, New York or Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., New Hartford, New York.
