Obituary of John "Jack" D. Roberts

John Daves Roberts, 90, of Clinton passed away Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Saint Elizabeth Medical Center. Jack was born in Anniston, Alabama, in 1925 to Edward E. G. Roberts and Winifred Brooks Roberts. He attended Birmingham-Southern College and Jacksonville State University. Jack worked for more than 30 years as a technical writer for the U.S. Army Missile Command in Huntsville, Alabama. His lifelong interests were classical music and American poetry. Jack is survived by his wife of thirty-nine years Constance Fisher Roberts; his sons Graham, Mark and Andrew of Huntsville, Alabama; Stephen of Ocala, Florida; and Anthony of Manchester, Connecticut. His daughter Christina, who cared for him so well, resides in Clinton. He is also survived by beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Jack was pre-deceased by his eldest son John, Jr., his brother Edward, his sister Winifred, and his first wife and the mother to his elder sons Jewell Knighton. A visitation will be held at the Owens-Pavlot &Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College St., Clinton on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. A memorial service and interment will be held at a later date in Alabama.
