Obituary of Thomas M. Matt Sr.

Thomas M. Matt Sr., age 82, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2015 at the Presbyterian Home after a long battle with Parkinsons.
Tom was born June 19, 1933, to the late Martin & Sarah Kane Matt. He graduated from Rome Trade School and served in the Army from 1953-55. On August 14, 1954, he married Katherine J. Frank at Church of the Annunciation, Clark Mills, NY a blessed union of 61 years.
Surviving besides his wife, are their children, Tom Jr. (Karen), Dean, Debra and Daniel (Shelly); also five grandchildren, Keith (Lisa), Scott (Lauren), Cody (Cassidy), Brenda (Steven) and Jessica; five great-grandchildren, Kaden, Keira, Padric, Logan and Brayden. He was predeceased by an infant son David in 1961 and by his son Timothy in 2012. He also leaves his siblings, Leo (Julia), Paul (Cathy), Frank (Sue), Alan (Nancy), Karl (Audrey), Vincent (Bobbie), Rose Marie (Walt) and sister-in-law, Jeannette. He was predeceased by his twin Ted in August 2014. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, especially Nan and Guy and family and Julie and Frank and wonderful neighbors, The Grogan Family.
There will be no calling hours. Interment will be at 11am on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 in Oriskany Cemetery, Oriskany, NY. Please join the family for a celebration of Tom's life at the home of Katherine Matt following the service.
The Matt family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all the staff in the Birch Unit. The kindness and compassion you gave to Tom was limitless, there are angels among you.
In lieu of flowers, please consider the Birch Unit and the Activities Dept at the Presbyterian Home.
