Obituary of Jack Edward Hallenbeck

Jack Hallenbeck, 83, of State Route 5, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Friday, July 10, 2015.
He was born on August 12, 1931, in Rutland, VT, a son of the late Howard and Gladys (Mosher) Hallenbeck. Jack was proud to have become an Eagle Scout in his youth and was a Private First Class in the US Army, where he served as a radio operator during the Korean War. On February 2, 1957, he was united in marriage to Diane Smith at St. Francis Church in Utica, a union of love and devotion until her passing on May 31, 2010. He retired from the US Postal Service after 35 years of service as a letter carrier. He was a member of the Church of the Annunciation in Clark Mills for over 40 years. Jack was a craftsman and made many things for his home. He enjoyed being outdoors and tending to his property. Jack was an avid bird watcher who knew every birdcall, he loved to golf, read poetry, watch classic movies and listen to classical music. He enjoyed having his family close and enjoyed their times spent together.
He is survived by his seven children, Lori Hallenbeck of Lairdsville, Amy and Charles Baker of Lenoir City, TN, Anne Hallenbeck of Lairdsville, Garth and Sun-Tok of Poquoson, VA, Jane Hallenbeck of Lairdsville, Ellen James of Ventura, CA, and Rev. Matt and Kristen Hallenbeck of Liverpool; daughter-in-law, Beverly Warshal of Westmoreland; eleven grandchildren, Brianne Howard, Christopher Bumbalo, Kayla Warshal and Rob Akins, John Hallenbeck, Hannah Baker, Noah Baker, Matthew Hallenbeck, Ian Hallenbeck, William Hallenbeck, Marin Hallenbeck and Bridget Hallenbeck; a great-granddaughter, Alina Mae Warshal; several nieces and nephews and his canine best friend, Rossi. He was predeceased by his wife, a son Adam, a sister Jean Brockley and her husband Warren and his two brothers Dr. Jere Hallenbeck and Howard Hallenbeck.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10am Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Church of the Annunciation, Clark Mills. There will be no public calling hours. Arrangements by Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., Clinton.
