I just learned about Carolyn's passing and send my heartfelt condolences to her family and loved ones.
Although I only knew Carolyn for a short time (1962-63), she is unforgettable. I was a student in her mother Thelma Barker's 5th grade class in Fayette City Elementary School. Carolyn was a beautiful cheerleader at Belmar and/or Belle Vernon High School and the apple of her mother's eye. She periodically stopped by our classroom to visit her mom, talk to the class and even play the piano. I had a tremendous school-boy's crush on her, and I'm sure that all my classmates felt the same way.
Years and lifetimes have passed but the memory of sweet, smiling Carolyn in her cheerleader's outfit, taking the time to visit her mom and talk to her adoring fan club of 5th graders, will last forever.
Sincerely,
Tony Semancik

Dear Family,
I came to know Carolyn about 15 years ago, when I came to the USA with a group of french students. I spent 3 weeks at Carolyn´s house.
We went on well together, singing and laughing. Carolyn was such a lovely and sweet person.Together we went to Church and I remenber me crying after her song.
I also remember our trip to Strasburgh, that she surprised me with, after seeing a film starring Harrison Ford, "Witness".
We went shopping, we went to the cinema, we went to have our nails done... what an exciting adventure for the young french girl I was then. I also shared her love to cats and dogs.By that time there was Molly, the nice huge Molly.
Carolyn and I kept writing letters or Emails, from time to time.
Suddenly, no more correspondence. No answer.
I am terribly sad.
Carolyn, my first staying in the USA was at your home. I enjoyed it, thank you.
My Dear Carolyn, I will pray for you in french and in english.

Dear Jason and family,
You have my deepest sympathy on the loss of your Mom. I was the one that spoke to you several months ago after Facebook friends helped me find you! Your Mom was a very dear friend. We had so many enjoyable years singing with the California Chorale. She had a voice like an angel. She would occasionally do pulpit supply at my church when our minister was on vacation. Everyone always looked forward to hearing her preach the word and also sing!!! I will never forget her adorable Yorkies and her beautiful doll collection. My life was enriched by having her as a friend!!!

Carolyn and I were best friends in 8th grade, a time of many fond memories: dancing at sock hops, going to Smock where we invented a new dance (Hazel Hop), long conversations on the phone. And then starting the trip together on the JYA trip to France in'66 where we first encountered a bidet and thought it was for washing feet. It's hard to believe she's gone as she always had such a strong presence.

A piece of me crumbled when I heard that Carolyn had passed. The positive impact she had on so many of her students will never be forgotten.
She was a friend too! She even played the organ for my wedding. To have had her be involved in such a special occasion is heartwarming.
My mom was related to Thelma somehow along the line, and that brought Carolyn and I even closer. Jason was a few months old when I had my son and Carolyn was my first visitor, bringing Jason and Thelma.
God has certainly called an angel home.RIP dear friend.

We spent our Jr Yr Abroad having wonderful times together including hitch-hiking, Christmas in Paris, celebrations of birthdays, impromptu singing outbursts, Barcelona & the 7th Fleet, New Year's Eve at Palavas... I could go on and on, but suffice it to say she will live forever in my cherished memories.

My sympathy to Carolyn's family and friends. Carolyn was my friend when we were students together in Montpellier, France, in 1966-67. She is remembered by me and others for her wonderful personality and disposition and for her love of music. I was pleased to visit her in Fayette City to hear her play the organ at her church. I spoke to her last perhaps two years ago (after nearly 50 years) and enjoyed every minute of our conversation. Carolyn is mourned and remembered by all of our fellow Montpellier students who recently reconnected through Facebook. These people send their sympathies, too. Rest in peace, dear Carolyn.

My sincere condolences to her family. Carolyn was a wonderful person I've known since grade school in Fayette City. She was exceptionally gifted in music. It was sad to think of her with Alzheimer's disease. I choose to remember Carolyn smiling and singing and I believe she's doing a lot of that at this very moment.

Jason & family,
Your mother was a blessing to our Mon Valley area in her praises to our Lord in song and teachings. We were leaders of the Valley of Hope prayer group who met at St. Sebastian's in Belle Vernon. Jason, you came often with your mom and she was so proud of you and talked of you often with love when you were away from the area. Our prayer for you is that you and your family be a living memorial to your mother's great love for Jesus and may your family always be truly blessed by Him.
In Jesus' Love,
Mark and Evelyn Druciak

Please accept my deepest sympathies and prayers for the loss of your mother. Carolyn was my teacher at Ringgold Donora in the late 1970's, and I was able to go to France with her in my senior year. The trip remains one of my greatest memories, mostly because of your mother. She was a wonderful teacher, who imbued her love of God in every lesson, both in the classroom and out. She is one of the reasons I became a teacher, so she lives on and on in me and so many others. The world has lost a great light, but heaven is that much brighter and the heavenly host has another beautiful voice.
