Alan T. Vidler, 93, of W. South Street, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, March 29, 2010.
He was born in Brookfield, NY on July 26, 1916, a son of the late Benjamin and Grace Mason Vidler. Alan graduated from Leonardsville School and served in the US Army during WWII. On September 20, 1941, he was married to Anne Ryan. They shared a loving union of 59 years until her death on January 21, 2000. Alan retired from Griffiss Air Force Base after 38 years of service. He enjoyed gardening, mowing his lawn, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Masons - Hampton Lodge, the Ziyara Shriner's and American Legion Post 229.
He is survived by his daughter Joanne Hillage of Clinton and her longtime companion, Albert Reed; three grandchildren, Fred Hillage and his girlfriend, Anna Sharpe, Lester Hillage and Tammy Smith; many great-grandchildren, especially Nicole, Natalie, Noelle and James Hillage. He was also predeceased by his brother, Dean Vidler.
Funeral services will be held at Noon Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc, 35 College St, Clinton. Friends are invited to call Thursday from 10am until the time of the service. Burial will be in Brookfield Cemetery.
