John M. Karram, 82, of Waterville passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. John was born on March 1, 1932 in Utica, the son of the late Steve and Mary (Schaffer) Karram. He graduated from Waterville Central School and attended Utica College. Following college he joined the US Army and served honorably in the Korean War. John was united in marriage to Gertrude A. Eisenhut on November 7, 1959 at St Bernard's Roman Catholic Church in Waterville. He was self-employed as a contractor. John was a member of the Clinton VFW Post 9591, the Stevens Swan Humane Society, was previous District Chairman of the Democratic Party and Past President of the Waterville Central School Board. He is predeceased by his son, Michael J. Karram; sister, Lila Karram; and brother, Fred J. Karram; and his beloved K-9 companion, Jake. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Trudy; Son, Toby J. Karram; grandchildren, Kassidy and Konnor Karram; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10am on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at St Bernard's Roman Catholic Church, Stafford Ave, Waterville. All are invited to call from 4-7pm on Wednesday at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College St., Clinton. Burial will be held at St. Bernard's Cemetery, Waterville. Donations in John's memory can be made to the Stevens-Swan Humane Society of Oneida County, 5664 Horatio St., Utica, NY 13502.
