Obituary of Arthur J Benoit Jr.

Arthur J. Benoit, Jr., 81, of Furnace Street, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2014 at the Syracuse VA Hospital.
He was born June 7, 1933, a son of the late Arthur Joseph and Bertha (MacPhearson) Benoit. He attended Clinton Central School and served in the US Air Force during the Korean War in Korea and Japan. On December 29, 1956, he was united in marriage to Sally Dowsland at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Clark Mills. They shared a union of love and friendship for over 57 years. Art worked at C. Weaver Chevrolet and American Asphalt and retired from Westmoreland Malleable. He was a member of the American Legion Post #9591 and was an avid book collector and history buff. Art had a model car collection and loved to attend car shows.
He is survived by his wife, Sally; five daughters, a son and their spouses, Denise and James Elsasser of Liverpool, Kimberly and James Maio of Oneida, Noreen and Todd Usmail of New Hartford, Christine and Robert Blair of Rome, Jennifer and Sean Landry of Westmoreland and Craig and Sally Benoit of Stratford; eighteen grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer Elsasser, Melissa and Jared Chapman, Cory Usmail, Courtney and Paul Raymond, Brittany Usmail, Elizabeth Blair, Mitchell Blair, Gianna Maio, Jenna Landry, Brandon Zanhiser, Charlie Jean, Jackson, Evie, Delilah, Benny, Dakota, Charles and Dustin Benoit; five great-grandchildren, Samantha and James Chapman, Ellie and Paul Raymond and Emma Ebensperger; a brother and sister-in-law, Noel and Jean Benoit; sister-in-law, Marcia Benoit; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a daughter, Brenda, brothers, James Benoit, Bruce Benoit and Edwin Sperry and his friends Ed and Doris Weston.
All are invited to call Tuesday from 4-7pm at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College St., Clinton. Funeral Services will be held at 10am on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park.
