John "Jack" Saunders, 70, of Floyd, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Faxton St. Luke's Hospital.
Jack was born on July 20, 1944, in New Hartford, the son of the late William and Gertrude (Coyne) Saunders. He attended Clinton Central School. Jack enlisted in the US Army, where he served stateside and in Cam Ranh Bay, Vietnam. Following his military service, he was united in marriage to Nancy W. LaManque on June 10, 1967. He was employed by Consolidated Freightways as a truck driver for over 21 years and a member of the Teamsters Local 182. He was a member of the Clark Mills American Legion Post #26 and past Vice Commander. He was also a member of the Order of the Silver Rose. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and Charter Member of the Yamaha Royal Stars Motorcycle Club. Jack was a wonderful husband and father who enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years Nancy; son, Brett and Sheila Saunders of Utica; daughter, Renee and Tom Daniels of Marcy; grandchildren, Alexis Saunders, Mathieu Schram, and Jacob Daniels; sister, Patricia and Roger Ferguson; sister-in-law, Janet Saunders; cousin, Joan Bethlehem; and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his grandson, Mitchell Saunders; and brother, Francis Saunders.
Calling hours will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., Monday, July 28, 2014 at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College Street, Clinton. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday at the funeral home.
