Obituary of Judith L. Yerkie

Judith "Judy" (Featherbay) Yerkie, 75, of Vernon, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014 surrounded by her family. Judy was born on September 13, 1938 in Utica a daughter of the late Arthur and Winifred Mabbett Featherbay. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Yerkie on October 27, 1956. A graduate of Westmoreland School, she retired from NYS DOT. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and lived for the moments spent with her grandchildren. She was always very thankful for all the help given to her by friends, family and community members. Judy always gave back more than she received and had a great faith in the Lord. She is survived by her husband, Lawrence; son, Lawrence Jr.; sisters, Joanna and Richard Dowsland, Donna and Leonard Durham, Mary and John Thrasher; sister-in-law, Mrs. James (Patty) Featherbay; grandchildren, Heather and Jon Lessels, Josh and Julie Yerkie, Kristen and Trisha Yerkie, and their mother Dawn (Burton) Yerkie; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, James and Lee; in-laws, Clarence and Doris (Budlong) Yerkie; and sister-in-law, Mrs. Lee "Wendy" Featherbay. Private services will be held for the family.
