Obituary of Ruth M. Hipp

Ruth Marie Oglevee Hipp, 95, of Clare Bridge, Clinton, and formerly of Rosemont, Pennsylvania, died peacefully on April 5, 2014. Ruth was born on May 3, 1918, in Somerset, Pennsylvania, daughter of Kathryn and Jesse Oglevee. She graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a degree in horticulture, and worked in her family's greenhouse and floral shop. She met William Arthur Hipp at college and married him on January 11, 1941. Bill was a brewmaster and Vice President of Christian Schmidt Brewing Co., Philadelphia. He died in 2005. Ruth was an avid gardener and flower arranger. She participated in many garden club activities and created an arrangement that won third place at the Philadelphia Flower Show. Ruth also loved deep sea fishing with her husband Bill at the Jersey shore and in the Caribbean. She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnne and Bob Wood, Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, and Patty and Chris Fox, Clinton; four grandchildren, Bill Trotman, Berlin, Connecticut, Todd Trotman (and his wife, Amy), Coatesville, Pennsylvania, Bryan Fox (Lyza), Portland, Oregon, and Tim Fox (Ruth), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and her great-grandson, Dawson Trotman. Private services will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
