Obituary of John E. Donley

John (Jack) E. Donley, 65, of Westmoreland, died Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at his home. He was born August 28, 1948 in Utica, NY, a son of the late Edward J. and Theresa (Stockbridge) Donley. John graduated from Westmoreland Central School and went on to attend SUNY Cobleskill. After graduating from college he enlisted into the US Army and served in the Vietnam War. On August 12, 1972, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Irene Ciupka in Little Falls. John retired from H.P Hood in Vernon where he worked as a Transportation Manager. He was a member of the New Hartford American Legion Post #1376 and the Town of Westmoreland Zoning Board. John was known for helping his friends and neighbors, and could fix just about anything. He loved spending time in his garage working on his tractors. Most of all, John loved his daily routine of caring for his grandkids. They brought him pure joy. Words can't express the type of husband, father, and Papa he was. He will forever be in the hearts of those who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Irene; two sons, Kirk and Rebecca Donley of Westmoreland and Kent Donley of Westmoreland; daughter, Kristina Donley and fiancé Brian McKevitt of Clinton; brother, Thomas R. Donley of Westmoreland; grandchildren, Isabella, Grace, Peyton, Ryder, and Maggie; and many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, James C. Donley. All are invited to call from 4-7pm on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College Street, Clinton.
