Obituary of Joseph Philip Gee

Joseph Philip Gee, 80, of Clinton, died Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at his home. He was born August 12, 1933, in Hanover, New Hampshire, a son of the late Philip and Emma (Stone) Gee. Joe graduated from Castleton State Teachers' College and received his Master's Degree from Syracuse University through a grant from the National Science Foundation. On October 28, 1952, he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Phyllis Waterman. Joe retired from Clinton Central School where he taught biology and coached girls' soccer and cross country. After his retirement, Joe enjoyed working with the Mohawk Valley Workshop as a job coach and evaluator for disadvantaged children and the developmentally disabled. He served as a moderator at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Utica. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Phyllis; his daughter, Heidi Pangratis of Albany; his grandson Jetta Intelisano and his wife Kate of E. Greenbush; two great-grandsons, Ian and Izaiah Joseph; and a sister-in-law, Mary Gee and her family of Rhode Island. He was predeceased by two sons, Paul and Peter and his brother, James. A service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, February 28, 2014 at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 10 Higby Road, Utica, NY. Arrangements by Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., Clinton.
