Obituary of Francis R. Mahoney

Francis R. Mahoney, 90, of Clarey Ave., Clark Mills passed away on Monday, February 17, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Hospital.
Francis was born on May 4, 1923 in Clark Mills, NY, the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Brown) Mahoney. He was a graduate of Clinton Central High School. Francis enlisted in the US Coast Guard in 1942 and served aboard the USS Greensboro in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theatres of WWII. On May 8 1948 Francis married Evelyn Heffron in Blessed Sacrament Church, Utica, NY. They were married for 56 wonderful years before Evelyn's passing in 2004. Francis retired after 35 years of government service from Griffiss Air Force Base, Rome, NY as an Electrician.
He was a member and usher of The Church of Annunciation, Clark Mills, life member of the Clark Mills American Legion Post #26, life member of V.F.W Post #7393 Whitestown, life member DAV Chapter 82 Utica, B.P.O.E member Elk's Lodge 33 Utica and member of the National Association of Federal Employees.
He is predeceased by three brothers, Bernard, Joseph, and Thomas Mahoney; a sister, Esther (Mahoney) Zuccaro.
He is survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.
All are invited to call Thursday, February 20, 2014 from 4-7pm at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc, 35 College St., Clinton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2pm on Friday at The Church of the Annunciation, Clark Mills. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Utica.»(Do not delete this line. It does not print.
