I don't know why, but for some reason I thought of Mr. Schaeffer today, so I did an Internet search for him. I was saddened to learn he had passed away a few years ago. For what it's worth, I can honestly tell you that no teacher positively impacted my life nearly as much as Mr. Schaeffer did when he taught the 6th grade class I was in at the Campus School in Oswego. I remember him as a teacher who taught with a passion, who looked for new and better ways to teach his students how to "learn". God Bless him and his family...

We had some great times over the last 28 years. I will miss his quick wit, love of life, and endless energy. Syracuse Stage will never be the same again. He enriched so many lives with both his work and play.

My best wishes to the family at this time. Bob was clearly a leader and an inspiration to many people. I know he will be deeply missed. Howie I can see much of your commitment to community wellness and social service in your dad. You clearly had a strong role model.

Dear Howie and Ruth, I'm sorry to hear of the passing of your father, Bob. He was a warm-hearted neighbor and Dad-like figure for so many of us growing up in Clinton. Through his involvement in Boy Scouts, or Howie, attending your basketball games, he was a constant in some many young people's lives. I wish you peace at this difficult time. warmly, Jackie

I remember Bob with affection. During the 3 years or so that I lived in Utica, Bob was a good friend. At his invitation, we participated in weekly square dance lessons. We enjoyed conversation (okay, intense discussions) on a variety of topics. He was generous with his knowledge, computer help with my PhD dissertation, and his time. Since I have moved away from the Utica area, we have maintained sporadic email contact. I know that for many, his physical vibrancy will be missed.

To the family of Bob, I am so sorry to hear of your dad's passing. Bob was a fun loving man and I had a lot of great conservations with him about his heating systems and life in general. Bob would be good for at least three late night calls to my home, (usually around 11:00-12:00) when everyone else was sleeping. The funny part most of the time the calls had nothing to do with heating! I will miss your dad even if he was a little late with the calls. Rest in peace Bob, you will be missed!
