Obituary of Edward Spellman

Edward J. Spellman Whitesboro Edward J. Spellman, 98, of Whitesboro, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2010 at the St. Luke's Home. He was born the son of the late William and Jenny Spellman on May 23, 1911 in Utica. Edward was educated in Utica Schools. He married Evelyn Sawner on September 4, 1937 at the Church of Annunciation in Clark Mills until she passed away on July 24, 2006. Edward joined the Navy in July of 1943 until his separation in 1945. Then he became the owner and operator of the Utica Oxygen Services in Utica. He was a member of The Church of Annunciation and also a Commander of the Clark Mills American Legion Post #26 as well as the County Commander from 1956-57. Edward is survived by his son, Jim Spellman of Clark Mills and Joan Bethlehem of Whitesboro; two grandchildren, Jodi and Jeff Spellman both of Whitesboro; relatives, and a special friend Sari Lachut. He was predeceased by four brothers, William, Ray, Jack and Robert Spellman. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at 11:00AM at The Church of Annunciation, South St., Clark Mills. Interment will be held in Westmoreland Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Arrangements made by Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service Inc., Clinton. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Rd., New Hartford, NY 13413 in Ed's memory. A special thank you is extended to the St. Luke's Home staff in Clark North.
