Obituary of Lewis John Rashford

Lewis John Rashford Clinton, NY Lewis John Rashford, 80, of Clinton, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica. He was born the son of the late Lewis P. and Dorothy Roundy Rashford, on July 30, 1928 in Rome, NY. He graduated from Clinton High School. Lewis became self-employed as a farmer in Clinton. He married Eleanor F. Welch on August 23, 1947 at St. James Church, Clinton. Lewis was a member of the past member Moose Club, Odd Fellows, the Oriskany Falls Fire Co., the Oneida County Extension Services, and a volunteer of the Lutheran Home. He also enjoyed spending time tending to the flowers and putting together puzzles. Lewis is survived by his beloved wife, Eleanor F. Rashford; four children and their spouses, James and Sandy Rashford of Carlisle, PA, Linda Rashford of Madison, Lois and Robert Durant, and William and Wendy Rashford all of Waterville; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; three sisters and a spouse, Beverly Green of Brooklyndale, NY, Janice Hogan of Clinton, and Eleanor and Sam Carmen of Clinton; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend Harry Cresswell of Clinton. Lewis was predeceased by one brother, Wayne Rashford. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service which will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at 10:00AM, at the Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc., 35 College St., Clinton. A special thank you goes out to the staff and ICU unit of St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
