Dorothy Marie Moot Sebring, FL. Dorothy Marie Moot, 91, of Sebring, FL., died Thursday, March 19, 2009 at The Palms Rehabilitation Center, FL. She was born the daughter, of the late Daniel Robert and Gertrude Amelia Senior Malloy on May 3, 1917, Clinton, NY. Dorothy graduated from Clinton Central School in 1934 where she also received the four year Parent-Teacher Association Scholarship. She then attended Oneonta State Teachers College where she met her best friend, Amy E. Jones, who later married her beloved brother, Walter. She became an elementary school teacher for the Stockbridge School System. Dorothy was united in marriage, for 69 years, to her loving husband, Ernest P. Moot on December 23, 1939, at St Mary's Church, Clinton. Dorothy and Ernie spent several years traveling the United States spending most of their time in Arizona and Florida. Although they were unable to have children of their own, they filled their lives with the love and joys of their many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was also a member of the Church of Holy Family, Vernon, and Our Lady of Grace Avon Park, FL. Dorothy is survived by her sister, Joyce Perkins of Sherrill, NY; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; four brothers, Robert, James, Walter, and Daniel Malloy; and a sister, Gertrude Nugent. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 27, 2009 at 12:00 Noon at the Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, 35 College St., Clinton, NY 13323. Relatives and friends may call Friday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your local Hospice or Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Rd., New Hartford, NY 13413. Dorothy was a very special person and will be missed by us all. A Special thank you goes out to Karen and Jim Terrell for all their special care.
