Obituary of Kenneth L. Spaven

Kenneth L. Spaven, 84, a former resident of Stone Rd., passed away Friday, January 9, 2009 at the Presbyterian Home. He was born August 18, 1924 in Vernon, a son of Irving and Ethel Hutchinson Spaven and graduated from Westmoreland High School. On October 28, 1944, he was united in marriage to Lucille Sawner in Clark Mills. Mrs. Spaven died April 14, 1987. Ken worked as a general contractor for his company Spaven Construction Co. where he later retired from. He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Denise Klopfanstein of Westmoreland; and Susan and Ed Anderson of Westmoreland; a son and daughter-in-law Kenneth S. and Patty Spaven of Westmoreland; grandchildren; Ronald C. Klopfanstein and Jim Hale, Thomas Klopfanstein, Heidi and Jeremy Nestved, Kenneth J. Spaven and his fiance Ann Marie Moffitt, Melissa and Marty Oleniuch, Jason, and Amanda Spaven; great grandchildren; Tyler, Sean, and Kellen Klopfanstein, Carson and Molly Nestved, Allison Vanderhoof; two sisters-in-law; Aileen Spaven and Elaine Gleason; and a special friend Brenda Smith and her son David. Ken is predeceased by three brothers Warren, Winston and Ronald Spaven. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 12, 2009 at 9AM at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc, 35 College St., Clinton. Friends are invited to call Sunday from 1-4 PM. Burial will take place in Westmoreland Cemetery in the spring.
