Eleanor E. Johncox, 93, of Clinton NY died on Tuesday, November 24th, 2009.
Eleanor was born on June 11th, 1916 in Belfort NY. She was the 2nd born of nine to Leonard and Bernice Bush Morehouse. In June of 1938 she married Ralph Johncox in Verona NY, a union lasting 40 years until Ralph's death in 1978. The couple resided in Rochester, Poland and in later years N. Utica. Eleanor was employed for many years at General Electric in Utica. She was a member of the Clinton VFW Auxiliary and was a communicant of St. Mary's in Clinton NY.
She leaves 2 daughters and a son, Millie Chase of Webster NY, Dorine Devlin and her husband Bob of Blairs Mills PA, John Johncox and his wife Debbie of Whitesboro, NY. She leaves 11 adored grandchildren, Diane Haibel, Gail Synyard her husband Jim, Jim Chase and his wife Carmen, Chrissy Uziel and her husband Jerry, Barry Chase and his wife Carrie, Deb Verhow and her husband Barry, Judy Devlin, Amy Sauer and her husband Jim, Julie Dobler, whom she helped raise from an infant and her husband Michael and their 2 children, Michael Cole and Austin Drew, Jessica Johncox and her fianc Adam Clairmont and Jason (Elwood) Johncox the 1st. She also leaves many special great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Ronald Morehouse and his wife Rita, Howard Morehouse and his wife Lynne, 2 sisters, Gerry Milton and Bernice Morehouse and Jo Newkirk. She leaves many dear nieces, nephews and cousins. Eleanor was predeceased by her son Robert in 1943, her daughter-in-law Pam Johncox in 1970, grandson John Timothy Johncox in 1988 and son-in law Carlton Chase. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Leonard Morehouse and another brother who died as an infant, sisters Veronica Bray, Cecilia Bates, Mary Nowak, brother in-laws Ed Bray, Art Bates, Bill Milton and John Nowak and sister-in-law Rita Morehouse.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 2 to 5 at the Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, 35 College St. Clinton NY. The funeral will be held on Monday, November 30th at 11:30 a.m. from St. Mary's Church in Clinton NY where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to Senior Network Health, PO Box 4215 Utica NY 13504, envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
