Obituary of Dorothy M Wurster

Dorothy Miller Wurster, formerly of North Tonawanda, Utica, Silver Creek, Clinton and Cheektowaga, New York, died November 19th, 2013, while residing at Canterbury Woods in Williamsville, New York, where she had been a resident for the past 12 years.
Born in Rochester, New York on June 7th, 1918, she was the daughter of LeRoy and Esther Agne. After attending Brockport State College, she taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Brighton, New York. In 1940, she married Reverend Hermann B. Miller. During their marriage, Reverend Miller served as pastor at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Utica, New York for many years. Hermann Miller passed away in July of 1986.
Mrs. Wurster was employed as a substitute teacher in North Tonawanda and Utica. Her church work included leading Youth Groups and Cub Scout Packs, teaching Sunday School, directing Youth Choirs, taking leadership Roles in the Church Women United, participating in the American Host Program for the Church Women United, and heading a Youth Committee in Coordination with the North Tonawanda Police Department.
In August of 1987, she married Mr. Vesper L. Wurster. While living in Cheektowaga, New York, Mrs. Wurster was a member of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Resurrection. She became an honorary member of the Buffalo Rotary and served on the Protestant Committee of Scouting. A Chaplain's Cabin was donated to Camp Scouthaven in Vesper and Dorothy Wurster's honor. Vesper Wurster passed away in November of 2003.
Mrs. Wurster is predeceased by her daughter Judith Chaney of Oswego, New York. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: Frederick and Virginia Miller of Baldwinsville, New York; two daughters and two son-in-laws: Janet and Marvin Joslyn of Baldwinsville, New York, and Marjorie and Kurt Gmeiner of Dornbirn, Austria; nine grandchildren: Kurt Miller, Katherine Kerr, Bethany Gibson, Karen Smith, Anna Hope, Jennifer Joslyn, Michael Joslyn, Stefan Gmeiner, and Susanne Stein; and ten greatgrandchildren: Blaise Gibson, Allison Smith, Megan Smith, Sylvie Hope, Evelyn Hope, Charlotte Hope, Lucas Gmeiner, Alexander Gmeiner, Killian Stein and Fabian Stein.
Dorothy's loving, kind, Christian spirit will be missed by family, friends and the many lives she touched.
Calling hours will be from 9:30-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 30th at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Home, 35 College Street in Clinton, New York, followed by the funeral service at 11:00.
