Obituary of Lucy A. Burns

Lucy A. Burns, 91, of Clinton, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, November 16, 2013. She was born in Franklin Springs on October 30, 1922, a daughter of John and Mildred (Wheeler) Morgan. On November 9, 1946, she was united in marriage to James Ward Burns - a blessed union of 57 years, until his death on May 23, 2003. Lucy loved caring for her family and was famous for her chocolate chip cookies, which were enjoyed by all of the children in the neighborhood. She was a nanny and cared for many children in the area, including Katie, Jessie and Alex, the children of Michael and Joanne Joseph Moore, who were like her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Clinton and the Helmuth-Ingalls American Legion Post #232 Auxiliary. She is survived by her three daughters, their spouses and a son, Kathleen and Erwin Eick of Hilton, Lisa and William Clark of Clinton, Lorie and Joel Struebing of Clinton and Kevin Burns of Clinton; six grandchildren, Rebecca Eick Postell, Jessica Eick Brauch, Nicholas Clark, Andrew Clark, Emma Clark and Cory Struebing; four great-grandchildren, Marcus and Sydney Postell, and Chelsea and Lana Brauch; her sister and brother-in-law, Johanna and Gerald Barnes of CT; her two brothers and a sister-in-law, Walter Morgan of Sherrill and Raymond and Catherine Morgan of Glens Falls; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ward Burns, two brothers, Burton and Robert Morgan and a sister Mildred Morgan. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 9:30am Thursday, November 21, 2013 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. All are invited to call Wednesday from 4-7pm at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc, 35 College St., Clinton.
