Obituary of Richard William Blunt
Richard William Blunt, 85, of New York Mills, passed away in the comfort of his own home surrounded by the love of his family.
He was born on November 28, 1939, in Utica, the only child of William and Mary (Czudak) Blunt. He grew up in New York Mills and attended New York Mills Schools. After Graduating high school hew went on to work for local highway departments eventually retiring as the Superintendent of New York Mills Highway Department.
Richard married the love of his life Irene Bochenek and they went on to start a family of their own. Richard loved farming and gardening and for many years you could find him and Irene at their farm stand in Clinton or at the Hamilton Farmers market every week selling their produce in the summertime. Richard wasn’t all work and no play though he loved traveling to the Nascar races with friends or watching them at home. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather and always could get your attention with his loving “hey bud” and a smile.
Richard is survived by his loving wife Irene; sons and their spouses, William and Lori Blunt, Robert and Mary Blunt; Grandchildren, Brandon and Beth Blunt, Cody Blunt, Monica Blunt and Tyler Hubbard, Lucas Blunt; Great Grandchildren, Logan, Carsen, Benjamin, Gavin, Raelynn and Asher; and many close friends.
In keeping with Richards wishes there will be no public calling hours or services. He will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Clinton, NY at a later date.
The family wishes to thank Brenda Carney and her staff for the years of care that they have provided to Richard even making home visits.
