Obituary of Elaine E. Kane

Elaine E. Kane, 75, of Clinton, passed away October 27, 2013 at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, NY, after a courageous battle. She was born April 27, 1938 in Lindsay, Ontario, Canada, a daughter of the late William and Edith Hancock. She graduated from Lindsay High School. On October 18, 1960, she married Jack T. Kane in Peterboro, Ontario. The couple moved to the USA in 1961 and settled in Clinton, following Jack's career with the Clinton Comets. Elaine loved skating and started working at the Clinton Arena in 1971 with the late Edward W. Stanley, and became the director of operations in 1985 until her retirement in 2005. She was a member of St. Mary's Parish. Some of Elaine's happiest memories were trips to Maine, California and Hawaii with Jack and Myrtle Beach with family and friends. She also enjoyed Wednesday Nights at Sylvan Beach, hockey night in Canada and the NY Yankees. She is survived by her husband, Jack T. Kane; her three beloved sons and their spouses, Todd and Rebecca of New Hartford, Daniel and Mary of Cleveland, OH and Kenneth and Sharlene of San Francisco, CA; her four cherished grandchildren, Dylan, Brittany, Caroline and Emily; her three sisters, Florence and Malcolm Hickson, Dorothy Woodcock and Sandra Burns, all of Lindsay, Ontario; her two sisters-in-law, Barbara LaBarr of Peterboro, Ontario and Patricia Kane of Toronto, Ontario; many special nieces and nephews, her wonderful friends and the Thursday Night Girls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 9:30am St. Mary's Church in Clinton. All are invited to call Wednesday from 4-7pm at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc, 35 College St., Clinton.
