Obituary of Edward W. Ingalls

Edward W. Ingalls, 82, a lifelong resident of Clinton, died Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Faxton-St. Luke's Hospital. Ed was born March 29, 1927 in Oneida, a son of the late Raymond F. and Verna Wood Ingalls. Ed graduated from Clinton Central School and Rochester Institute of Technology School of Art where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Kappa Fraternity. He retired from Utica National Insurance Group where he worked as a graphic artist for many years. Ed was a well-known local artist who had a flair for design and was famous for his pen and ink and watercolors. For many years Ed was associated with the Kirkland Art Center. Some of Edward's art work is on display at the Clinton Historical Society. Ed had many fond memories of special friends in the Clinton community. He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Alma Ingalls, Pat and Darlene Ingalls, Judy Ingalls, Shawn and Brian Stephenson, Linda Thieme and many great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Richard and Theodore Ingalls who died onboard the USS Arizona at Pearl Harbor, Robert Ingalls and his sister Jane Wilkinson. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service, Inc, 35 College St., Clinton. Friends are invited to call Wednesday from 5:00 pm until the time of the services. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Ed's memory to Kirkland Art Center or the Clinton Historical Society.
