Obituary of Agnes Cecelia (Dzwonkas) Cochis
Agnes Cecelia (Dzwonkas) Cochis, 86, of Wake Forest, NC, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. She was born on November 19, 1937, in Westmoreland, New York, the youngest of 10 children to the late Anthony and Antoinette Dzwonkas.
Agnes graduated from Westmoreland Central School Class of 1955 and from Utica School of Beauty Culture in 1956. She lived in Westmoreland, NY and worked at several beauty shops. In her most prestigious position, she was known as “Miss Agnes of the House of Windsor Beauty Shop”.
On May 25, 1963 she married the love of her life William Cochis. She was an active member of Annunciation Church in Clark Mills, NY and served on the Altar Rosary Society and sang in the choir. She enjoyed antiques and local history and belonged to the Questers Antique group in Westmoreland for many years.
Agnes and her family moved to Whitinsville, MA in 1981, and worked as an office administrator and florist before retiring. She was an active member of their church community, St. Patrick’s in Northbridge, MA where she was a eucharistic minister and choir member. Agnes and William lived in Whitinsville for 40 years before relocating to Wake Forest, NC.
Agnes loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved gardening, reading, going to the flea market, watching the Red Sox, and going to Cape Cod.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Cochis; siblings, Walter Diamond, Della Marcaitis, Jennie Larner, Anthony Dzwonkas, Antoinette Beauchemin, and Albina Dzwonkas.
She is survived by her sons, Timothy Cochis and his wife Toni (Norris) of Wake Forest, NC, Robert Cochis and his wife Pamela (Kulesza) of Apex, NC, Andrew Cochis and his wife Amy (Starvaski) of Richmond, RI; brothers, Bernard Dzwonkas and Albert Dzwonkas, both of Westmoreland, NY; sister Bernice Logan of Clinton, NY; grandchildren, Allison and her husband Kris Geist of East Berne, NY, Anna Cochis and her fiancé Drew Dembek of Cary, NC, Samantha Cochis and her fiancé Paul Merlino of Warwick, RI, Matthew Cochis of Charlottesville, VA, Sarah Cochis of Apex, NC; great grandchildren, Madelyn Geist of East Berne, NY; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial for William and Agnes Cochis will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Church of the Annunciation, 7616 E. South St. Clinton, NY 13323. Interment following at St. George’s Cemetery, Whitesboro, NY.
