Obituary of Bonnie Buschmann

Bonnie Ames Buschmann passed away on October 12, 2024. 

Bonnie was born January 17, 1940, the daughter of Ralph Clark Ames and Estelle Dodge Ames.  She graduated from Salina High School in Syracuse, NY, and then Boston University Summa Cum Laude.  She married John P. Buschmann on August 26, 1961.  Bonnie received her degree in teaching and raised their five children.  Bonnie’s favorite times were at her grandparents’ family farm on the St. Lawrence River.  This is where Bonnie and John enjoyed summers with family and friends. 

She is survived by her children, Jack Buschmann and Lori Ann Storey, James Buschmann (Christina), Beth Davis (Jim), Bonnie Dawes (Andy), and Bridgett Hodkin; fourteen grandchildren, Margaret Kozak (Jon), Katie Buschmann, John Buschmann, Alexandra Buschmann, Amy Davis, Emma Davis, Mia Davis, Porter Dawes, Morgan Dawes, Evelyn Dawes, John Burdette, Bruce Burdette and Claire Burdette, and Christian Hodkin; and one great-grandchild, Lawrence Kozak. 

In keeping with Bonnie’s wishes, a Memorial Service will be held at the St. Lawrence River the Summer of 2025.  There will be no public calling hours. Arrangements by Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Service. 

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Humane Society of Rome, 6247 Lamphear Rd, Rome, NY 13440 or Millen’s Bay Union Church, c/o 3859 Bristol Rd, Clinton, NY 13323. 

The family thanks all of their friends, Hospice and Palliative Care for their support, and especially Lily Stoltzfus.
