Obituary of Allyn Rudolf Earl
Professor Allyn R. Earl
Retired Professor Emeritus of Finance, Allyn R. Earl, died on Saturday, September 21, 2024, in the company of his good friend, Alex D’Acunto. He was born May 29, 1940, the son of the late Allyn S. Earl and Helene G. Earl. Born and raised in Deansboro, New York, he graduated with High Honors from Utica College in 1962 and continued his studies receiving a Masters Degree in Finance from Syracuse University in 1964.
Thereafter he commenced a 42 year career as a Professor of Finance at Utica College, sharing an office during that time with his good friend, Ed Jones, CPA. He and Ed spent many hours in their office reading the Wall Street Journal and discussing finances. During his tenure he was an avid supporter of the football and men's ice hockey teams. While at Utica College he took up golf and actively participated in the Utica College golf league at the former college golf course on Burrstone Road, which is now the site of the Utica Business Park.
After retiring he was elected to the Board of Trustees and granted Emeritus status. During his academic career he poured his heart & soul out to the college, and has generously provided for them during his lifetime and in his estate plan.
In his free time he attended Clinton Comets hockey and Utica Blue Sox baseball games, and played golf at Stonebridge Golf Club and the Hamilton College golf courses.
He is survived by his loving companion “Ruff” his loyal dog, now since adopted by a loving & caring family. He leaves several colleagues from the college including, Ed Jones, Bill Blanchfield, Tom Rossi, Carl Dziekan and Kim Landon and his morning coffee club members, Judy Ingalls and Alex D’Acunto.
Private Funeral Services have been entrusted to Owens-Pavlot & Rogers Funeral Services, Clinton, New York
